Sue Horton
I bought Prairie Pieces Quilt Shop from Toni Steere in 2005 and moved the shop to Emporia from Council Grove to its present spot. I have loved every minute of this new adventure in my life. What fun to go to work and be surrounded by fabric, friends and lots of fun and laughter! It’s great!
I have lived in Emporia since 1965 and raised a son and daughter and now enjoy eight grandchildren as well! I recently married (December 2009) Larry Horton and we live west of town on ten acres we share with lots of birds, rabbits, other wildlife and one fat cat named Millie. We both enjoy traveling and camping (motor home only- no tents please) and Larry is very patient with my obsession for fabric and sewing!

I am Sue Horton's sister. I work as a cosmetologist (with salon in back of Prairie Pieces) most days, I help with the web site, and work in the store quite often. I come from a sewing/quilting family, growing up in Coffey County, Kansas. I am married to Larry Wilson, and we have three sons, Shane Wilson, Josh Wilson, and Casey Carter. Casey is married to Lisa Fechter and they have and one son, Cooper. Some of my other hobbies include gardening, cooking (and eating), reading and spending time with family. I am a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Emporia Regional Quilters' Guild, and Master Gardeners.

Sue and I are friends, meeting first at dance classes. I'd retired early from my regular job when Sue asked me if I would like to work parttime for her. I feel it's playing two days a week at the quilt shop. It is fun and great fondling the fabric and being able to make projects for the shop. Visiting with the customers is such a joy; we have so much fun! I am married to Les and have two daughters and five of the best grandchilden ever. Working outdoors with flowers is my second love.

I am a retired school teacher and began working at Prairie Pieces Quilt Shop when it opened in 2006. I have been sewing since I was very young, making Barbie doll clothes. Later, as a mother, I made clothing for my family. I started quilting in earnest after retiring from teaching. I love piecing and have begun to applique. I am married to Mike and together we have five children and nine grandchildren.

I was introduced to quilting by a friend who signed us up for a beginning quilting class, Thimbleberries Club. Little did we know, it was no beginning class and would become an obsession for me. I teach a few classes and always learn something while doing it. I love to help customers with picking colors and getting to see their finished projects. I also help Sue with the books two mornings a week.
I have been married for 42 years and have one daughter (Alicia Redeker) and two grandsons( Hunter and Dawson). They are a huge joy in my life and we are so blessed they live close to Emporia. I have lived in Emporia most of my life except for a brief time in Colorado Springs while my husband was in the Army. Currently I am the president of Emporia Regional Quilters' Guild and am involved in many projects.
